The East Midlands Airport (EMA) can be found in England’s heart, approximately 13 miles (21kms) southwest of Nottingham.

Because of my job as a sales manager I have to fly out of Nottingham about ten yearly times. I park my car on most occasions for a short duration at one of the better airport facilities the airport represents. While travelling I’ve done some research on the various East Midland Airport parking services so I’m not swanking when saying say that I know everything about the East Midlands airport parking agencies. Guess by now I’m an expert on the subject.

Whatever they might say, the lion’s share of the car parks offer the same service standards with exception of their fees, positions and regularity of their transfer services. The car parking amenities at and nearby the East Midlands airport generally provides quality services, straightforward check-in procedures and top class security.

The East Midlands airport only operates from one terminal but the facility provides long, medium and short-term parking options. The long-stay car park is situated within walking distance from the airport grounds and is linked to the terminal building by free transfer service. Booking your long-duration parking space online in advance can reduce the rate significantly while you will often also save a few pounds on short and medium-term parking. The short-stay spaces can be found nearby the terminal building and fees are payable by credit cards at one of pay stations. The medium term car park, which operates a free and frequent shuttle bus, is positioned within easy walking distance of the airport terminal building.

I think both Nottingham East Midlands Airparks and the East Midlands on site car parking offer the most convenient services. These two parks are comfortably located nearby the terminal. Short, medium (up to four days) and long-term parking spaces can all be reserved in advance online. East Midlands Airparks Services operates an of airport park which is located not too far away from the terminal building. Check-in procedures at the car parking sites are very easy and you can be sure your car is safe while you are travelling. A third option might be the Prestige indoor airport parking facility. Their parking site is situated on the airport perimeter. The British Parking Association has awarded the facility with the Park Mark award. Check-in procedures here as well are very easy.

If you want to avoid wasting a great deal of time and effort by asking around at the airport about information on the available car parking services you better pre-book your parking space online. As a frequent user of the available car parks at East Midland airport I would like to mention the websites below. They offer the most competitive deals on car parking. Have a good trip!

The origin of the Vienna Opera goes back to the beginning of the 18th century. It is the oldest theatrical institution with an unbroken record of performing in the German-speaking world,. A number of new operas were performed in Vienna during the 47-year-long reign of Emperor Leopold I, who was a composer as well a ruler.

With a handwritten letter to the Minister of the Interior dated 20 December 1857, the 27-year-old Emperor Franz Josef confirmed his already discussed decision to expand the city of Vienna and for the construction of public buildings. Many participants in the international contest announced on 30 January 1858 for the expansion of the inner city of Vienna planned the new opera house to be near the Kärntnertore, thus close by the theatre it was to replace, which indicates a strong tradition of opera-awareness.

It was especially tragic that criticism of the building, which started in the autumn of 1868, only came to an end after the untimely deaths of the two architects. The style was criticized. In 1861 the opera house had been started in a romantic concept, which however, at the latest in 1865 had been replaced by the monumental conceptions of the strict style of historicism.

Following the destructions of the opera house on 12 March 1945 due to the effects of war, a completely different opinion emerged during the lengthy discussions on the reconstruction. There was no doubt that the facade should be restored, whereas a faithful restoration of the interior gave rise to differences. The reopening of the opera house was celebrated on 5 November 1955.

Vienna Opera House is situated in the first district of Vienna at the southern end of the Kärntnerstrasse. August von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll built the State Opera House from 1861 to 1869.

The Vienna Opera House has a world-wide standing for its first-class opera performances and is also known because of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. A night at the State Opera is one of the most impressive events any visitor to Vienna can experience.

The building itself closely resembles Italian Renaissance, as this epoch was immensely important for art and music. The first operas were written and performed in Italy during the 16th century. The loggia towards Ring Boulevard aims to emphasize the house’s openness to the public. It is adorned with a precious cycle representing the Mozart’s ‘Magic Flute’ and other famous operas accomplished by painter Moritz von Schwind. Numerous statues and figurative embellishments at the inside and outside of Vienna opera underline the festive character of the house.

The Vienna State Opera is one of the first opera addresses in the world – offering great diversity at the highest level. The program of this renowned opera house changes daily and presents 50 opera and 15 ballets on 300 days of the year.

Once a year, the stage and orchestra stalls of the Vienna State Opera turn into a giant dance floor – for the Vienna Opera Ball. More than a hundred debutante couples in long evening dress and tailcoats open the ball in the presence of the Austrian Federal President; once more, one can feel the ambiance of the Vienna of the great Ring Boulevard era.

In truth you really only have 3 main options with international cell phones, and the major factor that will affect your decision is whether you want the easiest and most convenient option, or the option that has the cheapest call rates, because you can only have one or the other.
1. Check if you can use your own cell phone

If you have the right type of cell phone, you may be able to use it when you travel abroad. If you are unsure then your carrier should be able to tell you. The advantage of taking your own cell phone is that you will keep your own number so it will be easy for friends to call you. However, using your own cell phone can be more expensive due to roaming charges (the extra charge added for routing the call abroad).

Conclusion — potentially this offers the greatest convenience but be prepared that your calls will cost you more. The most likely outcome will be that your carrier does not offer an international service, or if they do, you do not own the right type of handset.
2. Rent an international cell phone

If you cannot use your own cell phone abroad then you can rent an international cell phone that will work, just for the period of your trip. The cost of the calls will vary, depending on what type of SIM card the rental phone uses. If it uses a global SIM card then your calls will be higher priced, but if you are traveling to a number of countries you will keep the same number. If it uses a local SIM card your calls will be cheaper, but you will need a different local SIM card for each country you plan to visit.

Conclusion — rental sounds like a good idea, but you can now buy your own second cell phone, just for traveling, for the same price as one or two weeks’ rental charges, so that might be a more cost efficient option for you.
3. Buy your own international cell phone

The cost to buy your own second cell phone, just for international travel, has now come within the reach of all travelers. As with renting an international cell phone, the cost of your calls will depend on what type of SIM card your phone uses. If you use a global SIM card, you will keep the same number in every country but your call charges will be a little higher. If you use local SIM cards you will get cheaper calls but have to buy a different one for each country you visit in the future — this can start to get expensive if you are a frequent traveler.

Conclusion — If you cannot use your own cell phone, buying a second one is generally more cost effective than renting every time. If you want a system that is easy to use then a global SIM card will be the best for you. If you bottom line is cheaper calls, and you are happy to put in a bit of effort to get them, then buy and phone and use local SIM cards (but don’t overlook the cost to buy each individual SIM card when you do your price analysis).

We live in a world filled with accessories — cars have accessories, cellular phones have accessories, and even we have personal fashion accessories. What’s to stop suitcases from having their own? You can find suitcase accessories that have practical purposes, serve as mere decoration, or even accomplish both.

Carrying and Transport Accessories

Suitcases are meant to be carried and dragged around, and there are accessories that will make this oft-strenuous task easier. Probably the most common are suitcase shoulder straps, which sport ergonomic, soft-grip, and non-slip features.

There are also suitcase grips (sometimes called “grippers”) for duffel bags, backpacks, and telescopic suitcases (those that have long, telescopic handles that make lugging around your suitcases easier).

Other carrying and transport accessories include attachment straps and multi-bag stackers (for attaching several pieces of luggage together), as well as mini luggage scales (so you won’t exceed the airline’s baggage limit!).

Identification Accessories

These accessories serve to distinguish your suitcases from the crowd, which comes in handy when claiming baggage at the arrival terminal. The simplest form of suitcase identification are ID cards attached to the handle, which provides contact details in case of suitcase misplacement.

If you’ve got the regular, dark-colored suitcases, neon identification strips and neon luggage tags will make it easier for you to spot your luggage. You can also opt for mini pom-poms that attach to the suitcase handle.

Security Accessories

Your suitcases won’t do you any good when you arrive at your location if they went missing along the trip. That’s why security accessories are becoming popular. The most common of these are suitcase locks, which can be combination lock or padlock variants.

Other types of security accessories include cable locks and pacsafes. Cable locks wrap several pieces of luggage together, while you can think of pacsafes as durable wire “nets” that wrap around the whole suitcase.

Just remember, adding a slew of accessories to your suitcase might make it heavier and “tackier”, so keep them in moderation.

Although backpacking with children may seem like a lot of effort, the benefits gained from taking them along can far outweigh the hassles. The benefits include not competing with technology for your children’s attention, teaching them self-sufficiency skills, and watching them connect with the peacefulness of nature. Here are six tips that allow for a more positive experience when backpacking with children.

1. Involve Them In Packing

Make a list of the items to bring and have your children help collect them. If they are not old enough to read, you can read the items to them. This is important because the more the children are involved in preparations the more they will feel a part of the trip, and the less likely they are to be resistant to backpacking.

2. Get Their Help with Choosing the Trail

Choose a couple of trails and sites that are acceptable to you and then let the children choose from among them. This is another way of involving the children and letting them have a say in where you will be going.

3. Give Them Special Items For Backpacking

Give them something special that is to be used only for backpacking. Children enjoy binoculars, water bottles with fun designs on them, walking sticks, and small waterproof cameras. Another special item that is not only fun, but can be very useful, is their own flashlight.

4. Get Them Excited About Going

Getting children excited can be as simple as talking about backpacking in terms of how fun it is. Another method of eliciting excitement is to go to the library and get books on, and about, backpacking. These may be how-to books, especially illustrated ones, or fiction books with characters that have adventures in the woods.

5. Bring Along Games

While there is a lot to entertain children with while backpacking, it is always a good idea to bring along a game or two. These are useful when it rains, or at night when the children are in the tent, but too restless to sleep. Small, lightweight games specific to backpacking can be found in stores that specialize in outdoor activities. Other options consist of purchasing an extra small deck of playing cards (these are about 1/4 of the size of standard decks), using travel versions of traditional games, or repacking games, such as bring the dice from a Yahtzee game in a zip lock bag with a couple sheets of paper and small pencils or pens.

6. Praise Their Hard Work

It can work wonders when children feel that they are impressing their parents. One easy way to accomplish this is to comment on how hard they are working, both with the hike and with camp chores. First, encourage them to do a good job, and then praise the results.

While backpacking with children can be extra work, the end result is often more than worth it. There is something about nature than can calm even an otherwise hyper kid, and time alone with parents provides the perfect opportunity for long talks and quiet companionship, that may proof elusive when at home where computers, televisions, and phones all make distractions a common occurrence.

So, load up the kids next time, and build a special memory that only backpacking with children can create.

Popular with west coast residents and an all-around amazing destination for a winter ski getaway, Lake Tahoe is more than just a place to enjoy summer fun in the sun. Skiers and snowboarders flock to this area for the ample adventure opportunities and the diverse selection of ski mountains that can be found on both sides of the lake. When searching for a Lake Tahoe mountain that offers endless excitement and spectacular slopes, make your way to Heavenly Valley and experience all this bustling resort has to offer.

The Heavenly Mountain Resort is located on the California side of Lake Tahoe in the city of South Lake Tahoe but it expands into Stateline, NV with its extensive terrain. Offering more than your average ski slopes, this expansive resort is the highest in Tahoe with a peak over 10,000 feet while also maintaining its position as the largest in California with over 4,800 acres of terrain. On the hills, visitors are treated to 90 trails that are quite evenly divided between the skill levels with 20 percent geared towards Beginners, 45 percent for Intermediate level skiers and snowboarders, and 35 percent for Advanced/Expert riders.

Heavenly has it all when it comes to terrain. Whether you are searching for a smooth, casual glide down the mountain to warm up for the day or a spine-tingling run down a black diamond, you are sure to find a trail that will meet your needs. One of the calling cards of this resort is the tree skiing, which is perfect for those who can handle the pressure and sharp turns associated with such a demanding level of skiing. For those who need even more action and excitement during their Heavenly adventure, head to the Mott and Killebrew canyons where expert skiers run free and experience what a real Lake Tahoe ski vacation is all about.

In addition to the distinct ski possibilities Heavenly has to offer, there are numerous other ways to occupy your time if a day of skiing or snowboarding is not exactly your style. The Adventure Peak Snow Park is an excellent option if you want to enjoy the great outdoors with a variety of exciting activities such as snow tubing, cross-country skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing. You will make your way up a scenic, 2.4 mile mountainside Gondola ride and upon landing, you are free to head out to whatever activity beckons on that particular day.

When you need a midday break or a relaxing cap to a long day on the slopes, head to one of the amazing mountain restaurants in either California or Nevada. Those who happen to be skiing in the California part of Heavenly will want to stop by the Lakeview Lodge for unrivaled views and delicious cuisine that is a welcome respite from the frigid weather. For those on the Nevada side looking for a quick bite to eat, the Black Diamond Cantina offers excellent Mexican fare while a Slice of Heaven in the Stagecoach Lodge is the place to be for Italian options.

For those times when you really need to getaway from it all, head to Heavenly Valley and stay in a conveniently located vacation rental that truly allows you to enjoy the great outdoors. You can find condos and houses that have a variety of amenities such as a hot tub, washer and dryer, fully-stocked kitchen, and wireless internet in addition to plenty of space so your family never feels overcrowded. Take advantage of easy access to the ski lifts and spectacular views of the mountain for the duration of your trip with Heavenly Valley vacation rentals that meet all your needs and make this the most memorable ski vacation possible.

Choosing the most valuable way to travel by private jet can be quite confusing to even the most seasoned travelers. How do you choose between traditional aircraft charter, fractional ownership and block time agreements (also known as “jet cards”)? You want the best value for your individual needs; so, where do you begin?

In most cases, traditional charter will prove most economical. Occasionally, block time agreements may be the best option. Fractional ownership tends to be the best option for the fractional companies, not the customer! When you consider the initial investment of the purchase of your share, and the fees that accompany it, you will find that it is simply an expensive bragging right.

Initial investments for fractional ownership begin at around $100,000. Other expenses include monthly management fees, reduced hourly flight charges, fuel surcharges, maintenance expenses, insurance, crew costs, and depending on your destinations- additional airport fees. The question to ask yourself is, “are the additional charges you are paying reasonable?”

Do you have access to maintenance bills and crew expenses? Are you only paying your share? When the fractional company sells the aircraft, at the end of your contract, are you comfortable with the small percentage of your initial investment that you will recoup? When you do the math associated with fractional ownership, do you feel confident in this option as a choice for private travel?

Block time agreements are a reasonable option for one-way itineraries. Traditional charter requires two hour daily minimums when the overall flight time is less than an average of 2 hours per day. By being dropped off and picked up you can avoid minimums and benefit from the one way pricing that these agreements offer. The pricing represents an inflated hourly rate and therefore is quite expensive for round trips. Another down side is that thin a 12-month period. With some block time agreements, if you don’t utilize those hours within the allocated time, you forfeit the money that you have spent!

Charter allows the flexibility of choosing the best aircraft on a trip by trip basis. It is almost always more economical than being tied to a specific aircraft that doesn’t work for every itinerary. By utilizing the services of an air charter broker, you benefit from the knowledge of an experienced charter coordinator who examines the independent audits of safety auditing firms, negotiates costs involved with your charter, researches the qualifications and experience of crew and maintains a worldwide network of thousands of aircraft available for charter.

Exquisite Air Charter is confident our standards will allow us to continue to thrive. We guarantee to guide you honestly – even if into the hands of one of our competitors. In many cases, we’ve help our clients find a happy medium that incorporates both a block time agreement and traditional charter. Feel free to contact us to go over your charter needs so we may help in determining the best options for you. We’re proud to have earned long-term business relationships with our clients; an honorable achievement!

Paris has a very famous flea market. It is called “Le marché aux puces de Saint-Ouen”. It was inaugurated in 1885 and extends over six hectares. It welcomes every week 70 000 visitors during its opening days. The Puces de Saint-Ouen has 2000 shops selling everything from stylish furniture to old postcards and including clothes. In the fifties and sixties, the Puces de Saint-Ouen had a status as a place where one could buy nice and old furniture at very cheap prices. Though it is not so, it is still a very interesting place to visit. The choice is large and the prices are moderate to high. The Puces de Saint-Ouen is located on the edge of Paris in a popular and mostly ethnic neighborhood.

The history of the flea market dates back over two centuries, when rag and bone men scoured through the garbage of Paris at night to find valuable junk to sell on. They were called ‘crocheteurs’ or pickers. The romantic term was ‘pêcheurs de lune’ or fishermen for the moon. Many set up their temporary stalls within the Paris walls, in sleazy neighborhoods but because these neighborhoods were full of pickpockets and thieves, they were chased out of the city walls to Clignancourt, Montreuil, Vanves, etc. The largest of these flea markets is the one at Clignancourt but the other two continue to this day.

The Montreuil markets are fairly rough-and-ready with numerous unauthorised street hawkers. Although second-hand goods dealers are becoming increasingly sparse, there are still bargains to be found – hats, glasses, 70′s shoes, post-cards and odds-and-ends are almost given away in throwaway price.

There are four flea markets in Paris. Saint Ouen, the most renowned, is the biggest antiques market in the world with 2,500 stands and 12 different sections, spread over 7 hectares. Vernaison, created in 1920, has become the most popular with bargain hunters. Located amidst a maze of narrow little streets, in the shade of overhanging trees, the 300 stands that make up this astonishing ‘treasure hunt’ takes one back to the days of the original Flea Markets. Extraordinary objects, jewels, dolls, fabrics and furniture are all sold as they are. The Antica gallery, just nearby, plays host to a dozen high-end antique dealers that specialise in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The Malassis market, opposite, has 140 boutiques covering different themes like the dinner-table items, nautical articles, watches, post cards etc. There is also a wide selection of furniture from the Thirties through to the Seventies. Dauphine is the most recent market. 180 professionals all propose merchandise of excellent quality, certified by experts – Primitive art, gilded wood from the 18th century, regional furniture etc. It also has numerous second-hand book stalls as well as stands specialising in vintage articles, corsets and naughty underwear.

At Vanves, the 350 dealers display their merchandise on the pavement itself or in wooden boxes perched on trestles (trinkets, lamps, cutlery, household linen, clothes etc). The atmosphere is friendly and the prices are reasonable. The Aligre Flea Markets are very lively, although a little difficult to find the first time round. Although clothes take pride of place, you will still nevertheless find a few second-hand goods stalls in Vanves or Montreuil at the weekend.
